August 4th

Well, we can’t go to Norway. First we thought we weren’t going to be able to go because of some miscommunication between us and the Norway hosts on if we were coming or not, but after we were past that, we found out that they had a death in the family.  Not to mention that the couchsurfing host we were supposed to stay with near Oslo also had a death in the family, so we decided that Norway was out. Mona and Harri were nice enough to say we could stick around here until we leave for Belgium, so now we just have to hear back from the hosts there to see if we can come a little early. The bad news is that we had already booked our flight to Norway and couldn’t get a refund, but the good news is that we didn’t book the train yet which was going to cost 3 times as much as our flights

It is disappointing that we can’t go to Norway…we were both looking forward to seeing the country, but at the same time, we were both dreading the trip. I think we are all sick of airports and airplanes for now. We much prefer the bus and train rides even if they take a lot longer.  So for the trip to Belgium, we’re looking into taking a ferry from Ireland to France and then a train the rest of the way to Belgium. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to pick up some more cheap wine while we go through France!
